EVENT INFORMATION

WHAT IS ACADEMIC DECATHLON?

It’s a competitive academic activity where students pit their academic wit, interview and speech skills, and essay writing abilities with other students from all over Alaska. Academic Decathlon aims to;

• develop a greater respect for knowledge.
• promote wholesome competition in academic areas of study and interest.
• stimulate intellectual growth and achievement
• encourage public interest in and awareness of academic excellence in schools

WHO CAN JOIN?

Anyone who loves to learn. The competition is divided so that you compete against those with the same GPA range. The three levels are: Honors (3.80 and up), Scholastic (3.2-3.79), and Varsity (3.19 and below). Your GPA for classification is based on the previous two years of academic courses.
